Description
The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care at the University of California, Irvine is seeking qualified candidates for all ranks in the non-tenure track Health Sciences Clinical Professor series (Assistant, Associate, and/or Full Professor Levels). Experience & Fellowship training in Cardiac, OB, and Pediatrics Anesthesia desired. Clinicians interested in pursuing an academic medicine career in anesthesiology, Pain Management or Critical Care will be given the opportunity to grow in a dynamic department that provides care in all UCI Irvine Health clinical locations, including the UC Irvine Douglas University Hospital, a modern facility with state-of-the-art operating rooms. Douglas University Hospital is the only level I trauma center in Orange County and our anesthesiology and perioperative medicine practice covers all subspecialties.

The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care at the University of California, Irvine is seeking qualified candidates for the Clinical X series (Assistant, Associate, and/or Full Professor Levels). Experience & Fellowship training in Cardiac, OB, and Pediatrics Anesthesia desired.

Our anesthesiology and perioperative medicine practice covers all subspecialties.

The Clinical X series is designed for clinical scholars with major clinical responsibilities who are outstanding teachers and whose creative activities are often more broadly aimed at the improvement of clinical practice, health delivery, and/or medical education. The Fellowship is designed to provide extensive clinical training as well as opportunities for research and teaching in a dynamic, fast paced setting. UC Irvine Health Medical Center is Orange County’s only Level I Trauma Center and has a patient population that is medically challenging and diverse. The Fellowship strives to develop experts in the field by offering unique opportunities, including working within the framework of the perioperative surgical home, training on cutting-edge techniques and developing critical skills.

The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine is offering a Fellowship position in our innovative Perioperative Medicine Fellowship Program. In most organizations, the management of the perioperative environment is the purview of an anesthesiologist. With this environment becoming more complex, there is a growing demand for anesthesiologists with advanced training and experience in perioperative management. The Fellowship is designed to provide extensive perioperative clinical training as well as opportunities for research and teaching in a dynamic, fast paced setting.

UC Irvine Health Medical Center is Orange County’s only Level I Trauma Center and has a patient population that is medically challenging and diverse. The Fellowship strives to develop experts in the field by offering unique opportunities, including working within the framework of the perioperative surgical home, implementing perioperative technology and developing point of care critical skills. Fellows that are accepted into this program will receive formal and hands on training in the management of anesthesia services, perioperative services, and the larger health system/hospital services.

HS Clinical Instructor Series - Quality and Patient Safety Fellowship

Description
The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine is offering a one year fellowship program in Quality and Patient Safety. The Fellowship program is designed to provide extensive training in patient safety, quality improvement, quality monitoring, and quality reporting and metrics through rotations in the Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care as well as with UC Irvine Health’s Quality Department, Risk Management, Compliance, and the office of the Chief Medical Officer.

UC Irvine Health Medical Center is Orange County’s only Level I Trauma Center and provides a dynamic environment for training future leaders in the field of quality and patient safety. The fellowship provides developing leaders with unique opportunities such as Lean Sigma training and certification, serving on the department and institution quality committees and leading, developing, and implementing quality and patient safety projects. Fellows accepted into this program are trained to design and implement effective change in the context of health care systems.

Minimum Requirements

Postdoctoral Scholars

Description
Openings are anticipated throughout the year in the Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care at University of California, Irvine for non-tenured, academic term appointments for Postdoctoral Scholars (Employee, Paid Direct, and/or Fellow).

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Requirements
Applications are being sought from recent PhD graduates. Positions are available for both basic and clinical research. Candidates are expected to conduct interdisciplinary research. Training should be in clinical psychology, experimental psychology, neuroscience or a related field. This is an ongoing recruitment. Positions are dependent on extramural funding. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal will be dependent on availability of support.

Specialist Series

Description
The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Care at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for a full-time position in the Specialist series to join the Clinical Research Laboratory, which investigates and identifies factors that contribute to surgical patient outcomes and recovery.The laboratory uses a multidisciplinary approach and conducts various clinical, educational, engineering, simulation, as well as industry-sponsored studies.

Requirements
A familiarity with Institutional Review Board. Ability to draft, submit, and maintain regulatory documents. Adequate background in research method is preferred. Health care and clinical experience is desired. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills are highly favorable. Training will be provided to highly motivated individuals. Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.

Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to multi-task- Manages multiple tasks and projects at one time.
  • Communication skills - Reads, writes and speaks fluent English, using appropriate grammar, style and vocabulary. Correctly spells commonly used English words and job specific terms.
  • Organizational ability - Well-versed in data management. Demonstrates a systematic approach in carrying out assignments. Is very orderly and excels at cutting through confusion and turning chaos into order.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills - Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Translates problems into practical solutions.
  • Intellectual ability - Accurately and consistently follows instructions delivered in an oral, written or diagram format. Can provide directions.
  • Computer skills - Comfortably and confidently uses a computer and specialized medical software, as well as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Possess strong commitment to team environment dynamics.

Special Working Conditions
Work volume may require more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties of this job, but time in lieu will be given. This position requires special hours including working some weekends and evenings.

Our laboratory is located at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center in Orange, CA. This allows for an exciting, intellectual, and collaborative environment. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.
